Professor with deep knowledge of clinical anatomy.
Dr. Mirapeix graduated in medicine and surgery in 1984 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). In 1990 she obtained her MD degree. In 1995 she worked at the University of Rome La Sapienza, at the University of Oxford in 1996 and at the University of Cambridge in 2009-2010. Subsequently she returned to the UAB as Professor of Human Anatomy and Human Embryology.
She is currently responsible for human anatomy in the degrees of medicine, biomedicine, physiotherapy and speech therapy. She has been director or co-director of more than 160 courses for medical specialists. Dr. Mirapeix has participated in master and doctoral courses during the last 25 years. In addition, she has supervised 6 doctoral theses, two of which were awarded. She has collaborated in continuing education courses sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry related to prostheses, botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, etc. She has been invited to participate in conferences in several countries and has organized 4 international and 3 national congresses.
Her research has focused on clinical anatomy, microscopy of the respiratory system, participating as a researcher in the severe asthma working group for 11 years. Dr. Mirapeix has published 109 articles in medical journals and 9 book chapters and is co-editor of the European Journal of Anatomy, as well as referee in several prestigious journals. She leads an international research group at UAB.
