The 37th edition of the National Congress of the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine, SEME, took place in Malaga last February, an edition that was particularly eagerly awaited after the forced cancellation of 2021.
Nieves Álvarez, international model, icon and fashion reference, was in charge of the opening speech of the congress. With her conference ‘Beauty and elegance, feeling good at any age’ she welcomed the more than 2200 experts that SEME 2022 has gathered. This edition has paid particular attention to practical workshops and demonstrations, and has not lacked its characteristic symposiums and round tables, in one of which we have had the honour of contributing.
Dr. Melvis Anaya, our teaching director, participated in the Skymedic round table “MODELHA, first Filler with Cross Mineral Hyal technology: Results and Expectations”, together with great professionals of the sector such as Dr. Ana La Huerta, Dr. Carlos Lopez, Dr. Inma Gonzalez, Dr. Isabel Hermenegildo, Dr. Paz Cerdá, Dr. Rafael Fernandez and Dr. Elisabeth Valencia as moderator.
The innovation presented by Skymedic with Modelha is the replacement of distilled water with thermal water, making the difference in better results due to its greater hydration capacity.
As a final touch to this great edition, SEME 2022 has been the place chosen to sign the ‘Declaration of Malaga’, a petition for the recognition of Aesthetic Medicine as a speciality in the EU. Promoted by the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine (SEME), the declaration was signed by Dr Jean Hébrant, president of the Belgian Society of Aesthetic Medicine; Dr Emanuele Bartoletti, president of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine; Dr Andreij Igniaziuk, president of the Polish Society of Aesthetic Medicine; Dr João Vale, president of the Portuguese Society of Aesthetic Medicine and Dr Juan Antonio López, new president of the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine. One of the problems that this recognition would put an end to would be the intrusion in the sector, which, given the high demand for our services as aesthetic doctors, has also increased, and which endangers both the profession and the patients.
In the words of our doctor Anaya, this 37th Congress has been ‘a fabulous reunion of Aesthetic Medicine professionals sharing knowledge, new technologies and procedures’.
